RED DIRT
NOVELETTE TRILOGY
...One hundred years after the Earth goes inexplicably silent and the colonies founded on the Red Planet destroy one another, the highly advanced synthetics created in the image of mankind have evolved and built their own civilization from the ashes of humanity. What peace has come to fruition, however, is suddenly put under threat...
A novelette series written and created by D.K. Kristof and inspired by the works of Isaac Asimov and a love of videogames, Red Dirt © is a love letter to the worlds of Mad Max, Blade Runner, and the great science fiction franchises of our time exploring what it means to be human.
"Kristof’s writing is intensely visual. He makes Mars feel simultaneously vast and intimate, where every structure is a relic and every step forward echoes with what’s been lost.... A sweeping dystopian tale rooted in intimate relationships, philosophical longing, and the hard edge of survival. Kristof is a storyteller to watch."
- BookView Review, Red Dirt Part I
"Gritty, unforgettable, and compulsively readable… Bold and unapologetically human, the novel is as much about chosen family as it is about survival. Readers will look forward to the next one in the series."
- The Prairies Book Review, Red Dirt Part I

"The writing is tight but poetic...The worldbuilding is top tier. Red Dirt Part I: The Star Bearer is less about machines and more about meaning. It’s for readers who like their sci-fi with heart and grit. If you loved The Mandalorian, Mass Effect, or The Expanse, but wanted a bit more raw emotion and fewer lectures on quantum physics, this is your jam. It’s got action, found family, ethical dilemmas, and the kind of quiet, devastating moments that stick with you."

Our Aspirations and Our Limitations
"(Kristof) doesn’t simply place characters on Mars; he saturates them in it, the cold seeping into every emotional beat of the story...Raw, haunting, and told with heart."
- BookView Review, Red Dirt Part II

"Impossible to put down...This is a visceral, wrenching tale about mortality, identity, and reclamation. Kristof’s vision is mythic, yet intimate. He asks readers not to marvel at machines or stars, but to feel the pulse beneath metal skin and to find humanity in the silence that follows loss."
